FORT WAYNE – Sedation Dentistry of Fort Wayne plans to put up a $1.7 million office building.
Dr. David Painter of Auburn wants to bring a staff to 12714 Coldwater Road. The building would span 10,000 square feet and include the purchase of information technology equipment, according to paperwork filed with city officials.
The office will employ four workers with an average salary of $40,000 a year.
Sedation is seeking a 10-year tax abatement that will save the business $352,239. The tax break request will be introduced to the Fort Wayne City Council today.
Painter was unavailable for comment Monday. He runs Auburn Family Dentistry, which offers intravenous sedation to patients. The Auburn location provides services including implants, smile makeovers and sleep apnea treatment.
An American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry poll of more than 800 dentists reveals the average revenue for cosmetic dentistry procedures was $375,000 per practice in 2011. The last poll was conducted in 2007.
City Council members also will hear about another 10-year abatement request regarding 817 S. Calhoun LLC, which is seeking to restore a downtown building to house four apartments and up to two retail storefronts. The company is investing $528,400 and would save $82,488. The three-story development could result in six jobs.
Mick McCollum, interim president at the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance, said the area is seeing a good mix of growth. The group is not assisting Sedation Dentistry or 817 S. Calhoun LLC, but officials are pleased.
Its great for the community, McCollum said. Were going to see a lot of exciting stuff around here.
