Accused pot seller freed on bond after arrest

A Fort Wayne man is out on bond after he turned himself in on two felony drug charges alleging that he sold marijuana, police said.

Joseph D. Brewington, 23, of the 2500 block of Princeton Avenue, was released from the Allen County Lockup on Tuesday evening after he was charged with felony possession of marijuana, felony maintaining a common nuisance and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

He told police that he had been selling marijuana for about five years, according to a probable cause affidavit. Brewington said he drives to Michigan, buys a pound of marijuana for $3,000, returns home to sell the drug and keeps some for personal use.

Allen County Drug Task Force officers found more than 2 1/2 ounces of marijuana in Brewington’s bedroom and throughout the house, court papers said.

Police said they also found a large sum of money and 20 assorted loaded firearms in the house.

Brewington is free in lieu of $52,500 bail.
