Country music star Jason Aldean has been fined for swimming in dangerous conditions at a Florida Panhandle beach.

Authorities say Aldean was among 19 people cited for going in the Gulf of Mexico on Monday in South Walton County.

The Northwest Florida Daily News reports that double red flags had been up since Saturday because of dangerous rip currents. Lifeguards had ordered everyone to stay out of the water.

Surgery for kid actor

The 7-year-old actor best known as the boy behind the Darth Vader mask in a popular car commercial shown during last year’s Super Bowl is having open heart surgery.

Max Page plays Reed on the top-rated CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless.” CBS spokeswoman Elise Bromberg says he will have surgery Thursday to replace his pulmonary valve and repair a hole in his heart at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Max was born with a congenital heart defect and has undergone multiple surgeries.

‘JK USA’ canceled

CNN is canceling John King’s evening news show, making him the first victim of the network’s bad stretch in the ratings.

“JK USA” has aired at 6 p.m. since 2010. CNN said Wednesday that Wolf Blitzer’s “Situation Room” would expand to three hours, and King will become the network’s lead national campaign correspondent.

CNN has been suffering this spring in the ratings, particularly since interest in following the presidential campaign on television hasn’t heated up.

Streep honors Davis

They may have been Oscar rivals this year, but there’s nothing but love between Meryl Streep and Viola Davis.

Streep, who ended Davis’ awards run for “The Help” by winning the lead actress Oscar for “The Iron Lady,” lauded her friend and colleague Tuesday at Women in Film’s annual Crystal + Lucy Awards.

She called Davis “a lion-hearted woman” and a gifted and determined actress who studied at Juilliard, won Tony Awards and captivated Hollywood with her eight-minute performance in “Doubt.”
