Reports: Brey to get 10-year contract extension

Multiple media outlets are reporting Notre Dame basketball coach Mike Brey has agreed to a 10-year contract extension.

The South Bend Tribune reported on Monday that Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick will hold a news conference Tuesday to announce the deal with Brey.

The 53-year-old Brey is a three-time Big East Coach of the Year. He is 260-134 as coach of the Fighting Irish since taking over in 2000.

Brey had three years left on an extension he signed in 2008 that ran through the 2014-15 season.

The Journal Gazette's Assistant Sports Editor Tony Krausz covers The University of Notre Dame. Krausz, a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and a native of St. Louis, has been assistant sports editor since October 2005.
