Jewelry-store worker pistol-whipped in robbery

FORT WAYNE – An employee at a Fort Wayne jewelry store was seriously injured Wednesday morning when a masked robber struck him in the head and face with a handgun.

Police were called to Do's Jewelers, 2809 E. State Blvd., shortly after 10:35 a.m., according to a statement issued by Raquel Foster, a Fort Wayne Police Department spokeswoman.

It said the robbers wore ski masks and demanded cash at gunpoint.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the City of Fort Wayne Police Department at 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
