FORT WAYNE – Masked robbers armed with a handgun and a stun gun hit a restaurant south of downtown Fort Wayne on Wednesday morning, shedding clothing as they fled.
The Fort Wayne Police Department said an officer saw two men fleeing Laredo Restaurant, 1854 Broadway, shortly after 9 a.m. and tried to follow them on foot, but they split up.
Police and canine units searched the area but the robbers remained at large as of 12:39 p.m., according to a statement issued by Raquel Foster, a police spokeswoman.
The preliminary investigation indicates the men entered the restaurant and demanded cash from the register. Afterward, items of clothing and other items were found in the area, including a roll of coins taken from the register and a handbag that was taken from one of the employees.
No injuries were reported.
