Three Fort Wayne pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout in a 4-0 victory against Lake County in front of 7,526 fans Saturday at Parkview Field.

Here are the highlights.

Key hit: Duanel Jones had a two-out, two-run single in the first inning to stretch Fort Wayne's lead to 4-0.

In control: Starting pitcher Adys Portillo surrendered three hits in six innings. He lowered his ERA to 1.76. Portillo had four strikeouts and did not allow a walk.

Sellout: Saturday's crowd marked the ninth sellout of the season for the TinCaps.


"They want to show to the big boss that they are good enough," Valentin said. "I'm going to talk to (San Diego Director of Player Development) Randy (Smith) and he might have to stay here for the rest of the year."
