Community Foundation grants

The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne recently awarded grants totaling $700,969 to nonprofit Allen County agencies.

Allen County Education Partnership: $35,000 for Project READS for children in kindergarten through third grade aimed at developing literacy skills

Allen County Fort Wayne Historical Society: $20,000 for K-12 student group tour visitation program at the History Center

American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana: $30,000 to support services that help victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies

Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne: $20,000 to support the arts and cultural community

Blue Jacket Inc.: $10,000 for training, employment and vocational services to help ex-inmates returning to the community through the Allen County Superior Court Re-Entry Court program

Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana Inc.: $15,000 to help provide supplies, equipment, and financial assistance to clients

Community Action of Northeast Indiana Inc.: $24,000 for Covering Kids and Families of Northeast Indiana, an outreach and enrollment initiative for state-funded health programs

Crossroad Child & Family Services Inc.: $10,000 to support services that provide treatment for troubled children and their families

Early Childhood Alliance: $40,000 for early care and education, family parenting services and training for early-childhood educators

Embassy Theatre Foundation Inc.: $20,000 toward the maintenance and operation of the historic theater

Family and Children’s Services of Fort Wayne: $15,000 to help support programs designed to promote and develop healthy relationships in individuals and families

Fort Wayne Dance Collective Inc.: $10,000 for programming that provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities

Harold W. McMillen Center for Health Education Inc.: $20,000 for the delivery of health education programs

The Literacy Alliance: $30,000 for GED, literacy programs and tutoring services for Allen County adults

Martin Luther King Montessori School: $35,000 for preschool Montessori education for children from low-income households

Mustard Seed Furniture Bank of Fort Wayne Inc.: $25,000 to help provide household furnishings to families and individuals after suffering disaster, personal tragedy or other misfortunes

Northeast Indiana Public Radio Inc.: $15,000 to help support programming for two public radio stations providing a platform for music, entertainment and public discussion

Science Central: $20,000 for hands-on education of science, technology, engineering and math to the children and adults of Allen County

Turnstone Center for Children and Adults with Disabilities: $50,000 for programs and services for people with physical and neurological disabilities

Established in 1956, the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne is a public charitable foundation serving Allen County for more than 55 years. The Community Foundation has assets of $110 million and awarded more than $10.1 million in charitable grants and scholarships in 2011.
