Area home sales rose in May

Area home sales rose 9.8 percent in May, a report Monday from the Upstate Alliance of Realtors shows.

Upstate, which tracks data from Allen, Adams, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Wells and Whitley counties, said 638 homes sold last month, up from 581 in May 2011. The average May sales price of $131,909 is a 13.6 percent increase from $116,118 in the same month last year.
