Suspect blames economy in pot bust

Martinez

A suspect arrested Sunday in Warsaw told officers that the economy was so bad that he couldn’t afford to buy pants, so he was selling marijuana for $100 a bag, police said.

A little after 5 p.m. Sunday, the Kosciusko Central Dispatch got a tip that a man with felony drug warrants was at the Economy Inn in Warsaw and that he might have drugs in the room.

Warsaw officers went to the motel at 3521 Lake City Highway, where Hector Martinez, 42, lives, and report that they saw a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in an ash tray that Martinez tried to hide.

Police said they also found a clear plastic bag of marijuana in one of his pocket and 14 bags in a cooler in the room.

He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on the two outstanding felony warrants and on a charge of felony dealing in marijuana.
