Passenger critical in Noble crash

A Ligonier man was in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash in Noble County on Saturday night, police said.

Quinn S. Groff, 16, of Ligonier, was driving a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck north on Indiana 9 and was turning left onto Noble County Road 850 North when a northbound 1997 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Teddy B. Martin, 21, of Ligonier, attempted to pass a line of vehicles, a report from the Noble County Sheriff’s Department said.

The vehicles collided and both came to rest in a farm field with the pickup truck driven by Groff on top of the Corvette driven by Martin. Both drivers had two additional passengers.

A fire started and all occupants were removed from the vehicles before police arrived, police said.

Teddy T. Martin, 54, of Ligonier, a passenger in the Corvette, suffered multiple injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

Teddy B. Martin was also hospitalized because of cuts to his face, arms and head, police said. His condition was unavailable late Saturday.

Neither Groff nor his passengers were injured, police said.
