Huntington police were trying to stop a speeding sport utility vehicle early Sunday when the vehicle nearly hit two pedestrians, then hit a tree and ran into a house.
A statement gave this account:
After an officer saw the vehicle speeding about 2:40 a.m. and turned on his lights, the SUV veered to the right and barely missed two pedestrians. The vehicle then hit a large tree and continued into a home at 1203 First St.
The driver was first taken to Parkview Hospital in Huntington and then was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. The police did not know the extent of the mans injuries.
No one was injured inside the house, which police said suffered a large amount of damage. Police did not release the drivers identity.
