Man shot in face east of downtown

FORT WAYNE – A man was shot in the face Tuesday afternoon about three blocks west of the Indiana Tech campus.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating the shooting at an apartment complex in the 900 block of East Washington Boulevard at 2:22 p.m.

Officers and paramedics arrived to find a man in the parking lot, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital, according to a written statement issued by the police department.

It said the victim told officers he was shot by another male and that officers found a blood trail in the hallway of the victim's apartment and on the victim's apartment door.

The victim's condition was not immediately available.

This shooting remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor's Office.
