Suspect held in 2-county burglary spree

A Pioneer, Ohio, man was being held on a Williams County burglary charge, and police said he is a suspect in several home burglaries in Williams and Defiance counties.

On Monday afternoon, the Defiance County Sheriff’s Department got several reports about home burglaries in Washington and Farmer townships. Calling the Williams County department, Defiance officials learned there were similar burglaries there as well.

Based on victims’ information, Daniel L. Thompson, 31, of Pioneer, was stopped for questioning, according to a statement from the Defiance department.

It said several items related to “a series of home invasions” in both counties were recovered from his vehicle.

Thompson is scheduled for an initial court appearance on a burglary charge Tuesday in Williams County.
