Man shot in face at parking lot

A man was shot in the face Tuesday afternoon in an apartment complex just east of downtown.

Fort Wayne police were called just before 2:30 p.m. to the 900 block of East Washington Boulevard.

When officers and emergency responders got to the scene, a man was found in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He was taken to a hospital, but police did not know the severity of his injuries.

The man told officers he was shot by another man in the parking lot and that the shooter then ran north.

Police also found a blood trail in the hallway of the victim’s apartment and on his door. The name of the victim was not released.

The shooting remains under investigation.
