Notre Dame landed an oral commitment from linebacker Michael Deeb on Friday.
The 6-foot-2, 237-pounder from American Heritage in Plantation, Fla., announced his decision on Twitter, posting, "Thankful and blessed to make the decision to commit to THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME!!!"
Deeb is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, and he told Irish Illustrated he expects to play inside linebacker for Notre Dame.
He also told the website that the Irish will continue to pursue linebacker Alex Anzalone, who is rated a four-star prospect.
"They took me as a 'Mike' linebacker," Deeb said. "I know they are also recruiting a kid named Alex Anzalone also at the middle position, but they are taking four linebackers and they have two spots for the inside. Now that I have committed there is one other spot.
"(Defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Bob Diaco) said the way I am vocal, he sees me at the Mike making calls and adjustments. (Diaco) said he sees me more as the Mike linebacker of the defense."
Deeb is the 16th member of Notre Dame's 2013 recruiting class.
