One injured in firearm accident in Noble

A 30-year-old man was taken to the hospital Thursday night after a firearm accidentally discharged and wounded him in the thigh, according to an Avilla Police Department report.

Police found the victim, whose name has not been released, about 7:30 p.m. in a 2003 Ford truck at the intersection of Noble County Road 600 E and Baseline Road, Avilla, the report said. The victim and a passenger in the truck told the Avilla police that the accident happened while they were unloading the gun, the report said.

The victim was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where he is listed in stable condition, the report said.

The Avilla Police Department was assisted by the Noble County Sheriff's Department and Noble County EMS.
