Home moderately damaged in fire

A fire caused moderate damaged to a northwest-side house Saturday night, Fort Wayne firefighters said.

Fire crews were called to 1219 Huffman St. about 10:30 p.m. They found a small fire in an upstairs bedroom and had it under control in 11 minutes, firefighters said.

No one was home when the fire started.

No firefighters were injured. The blaze is under investigation.

Girl, 9, dies from crash injuries

White County authorities said a 9-year-old old girl has died from injuries she suffered in a traffic crash that killed her grandparents and older brother.

Sheriff Patrick Shafer said Erin Longpre of Indianapolis died Friday night at a Lafayette hospital.

The crash on U.S. 24 also killed Ronald Longpre, 67, Mancelona, Mich.; his wife, Sandra Longpre, 62; and John Longpre II, 13, Indianapolis.
