Area VA director taking new job in Delaware

The director of the Veteran Affairs Northern Indiana Health Care System has been appointed director of the Wilmington, Del., VA Medical Center.

Daniel Hendee has headed up VANIHCS for two years and has been with the Department of Veterans Affairs for 30 years. VA said Thursday that an interim director for VANIHCS will be appointed while it conducts a search for a permanent director.

VANIHCS has medical centers in Fort Wayne and Marion and clinics in South Bend, Goshen, Peru and Muncie. It serves nearly 43,000 military veterans.

In his new post, Hendee will oversee health care services for more than 26,000 veterans in Delaware and New Jersey.
