2 on motorcycle killed on Ardmore

Two people riding a motorcycle died after colliding with a car Wednesday on Ardmore Avenue, police said.

Police were called at 12:12 p.m. to the 2700 block of Ardmore, at Covington Road, where they found the two motorcyclists.

One of the riders, a man, died at the scene. His passenger, a woman, was taken in critical condition to a hospital, where she died, police said.

Police believe the car was southbound and the motorcycle northbound on Ardmore. Witnesses told police the car crossed the centerline and struck the motorcycle head-on.

Witnesses said the motorcycle was on fire after the crash. The witnesses tried to render medical aid to the victims until emergency workers arrived, according to police.

The driver of the car, a woman, was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The two motorcyclists were not wearing helmets, police said.
