Extra fire departments were called to help and officials kept a close eye on the firefighters themselves Thursday afternoon at a house fire in Auburn, as they battle the heat as well as the flames.
Firefighters were called to 1704 Dallas St. shortly before 1:30 p.m. When they arrived, an outside wall and the attic area were burning, according to a written statement issued by the fire department.
It said that the homeowner was home at the time of the fire and escaped without injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The house was heavily damaged.
