Verbatim: Indiana DNR investigates a near drowning in Lagrange County

Indiana Conservation Officer Tyler Brock investigated a near drowning on Friday evening(7/6/12) at Fish Lake in Lagrange County.

According to witnesses, 78 year old Jennings Wirth from Lagrange was swimming from his dock when he became fatigued in approximately 20 feet of water.

Wirth's wife yelled for help and while one bystander called 911, another neighbor, Laura Morlock dove into the water to rescue Wirth. She located Wirth and brought him into shore where CPR was started on Wirth who was unresponsive.

While CPR continued, Wirth regained consciousness as EMS and Fire personnel arrived on the scene.

Wirth was transported to Parkview Lagrange Hospital where he was held for observation.
