Fisherman finds human skull in White River

INDIANAPOLIS – The discovery of a human skull in the White River in Indianapolis had investigators looking for additional remains.

Marion County Chief Deputy Coroner Alfie Ballew confirmed Monday the skull is human.

She said the Indianapolis Fire Department dive team was searching the river on the south side of Indianapolis for additional remains.

Ballew said determining the age, race and gender of the dead person might take several weeks.

John Hudman of Indianapolis told police he was fishing Sunday night when he saw the skull floating in the water.

Police said later Monday that no other remains were found.
