Keys to the game

Adys Portillo had a rare off night in Fort Wayne's 6-2 loss to Beloit in front of 7,579 fans Thursday at Parkview Field.

Portillo gave up three runs on four hits in four innings. He walked three and struck out two.

Here are the highlights.

Key hit: Jhon Goncalves hit a two-run single off of reliever Daniel Cropper in the sixth inning to give the Snappers a 5-2 lead. Beloit got in position for the runs when Luis De La Cruz walked the bases loaded.

Still leading: Portillo's ERA went from 1.65 to 1.89. He still leads the Midwest League in the department.

A little wild: Fort Wayne walked nine batters, a season-high.

Quotable:

"You never think Portillo is going to have the outing like the one he had. He looked like he wasn't comfortable. He was battling, trying to throw strikes. But he wasn't able to do it."
