"Giving a child too much responsibility for a pet too early puts them at risk of being bitten.”FORT WAYNE – The 2012 NIE Pet Star contest is under way, and entries will be accepted through July 27.
The contest is a fundraiser being conducted by Fort Wayne Newspapers' Newspaper In Education program. The NIE program last year provided more than 1 million newspapers to students across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.
Voting rounds will begin Aug. 24 and close at 8:59 p.m. Oct. 15.
