Two teenagers from rural Fremont have admitted to thefts of all-terrain vehicles and gas cans, according to the Steuben County Sheriffs Department.
Seth J. Pocock, 19, and Jason C. Firestone, 18, were arrested Wednesday.
The men had in their possession two ATVs that were reported stolen about a week ago. A detective interviewed them, and they admitted to about 30 separate thefts, the sheriffs department said.
Twenty-nine gas cans stolen from boats on Steuben County lakes have been recovered, and authorities are working to return them to their owners. The stolen ATVs, along with a stolen dirt bike, have already been returned, the sheriffs department said.
Pocock and Firestone were both in custody Thursday at the Steuben County Jail. Pocock is charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and two felonies: burglary and theft. His bail was set at $30,000. Firestone faces two charges of felony theft. He was being held without bail on a probation violation.
