Fort Wayne hooks fishing lure collectors

Statement issued Monday by Visit Fort Wayne:

The National Fishing Lure Collectors Club will hold its 36th Annual National Show and Meeting in Fort Wayne from July 19-21. The convention will be held at the Grand Wayne Center.

A few reasons the NFLCC picked Fort Wayne include affordability (facilities, parking, hotels, and amenities), quality of meeting space and proximity of members. This is the first time Fort Wayne has hosted this unique national organization, which expects to see over 1,000 fishing lure enthusiasts over a three-day span. 3,000 members from the United States, Canada and all over the world were invited to Fort Wayne.

The group will partake in a handful of seminars and shows during the week, while viewing the world’s largest collection of collectible fishing equipment.

From July 19-21, NLFCC members will display over 500 tables of collectible fishing equipment inside the main exhibition hall of the Grand Wayne Center. Entry is by membership only, but non-members will have an opportunity to join the NFLCC at the door.

In correlation with the Three Rivers Festival, the NFLCC will host an “Antique Fishing Equipment Display,” showing Fort Wayne manufactured fishing equipment from last century. Information on this event can be found on page 56 of the Three Rivers Festival Guide.

Originated in 1976, the NFLCC is a non-profit, educational and international organization designed to foster an awareness of fishing tackle collecting as a hobby and to assist members in the location, identification and trading of vintage fishing related equipment.
