There is nothing that can date a summertime picture like a pair of sunglasses. Remember the huge frames of the ’70s, the crazy colors of the ’80s … the huge frames and crazy colors of the right nows?

While obnoxious and fabulous sunglasses may be all the rage now, it can be hard to figure out just what type of crazy will best go with the shape of your face. You don’t want to end up like Jeff Goldblum in “The Fly.”

The folks over at Kohl’s have broken down their sunglass choices by face shape. So the next time you go to buy those Ray-Bans, here’s a handy guide to follow for your face.

If your face is: Heart-shaped

This shape is perfect to pull off those crazy huge frames, which will draw attention toward the narrower half of your face. Pay special attention to find glasses with soft, round edges near the bottom of frames.

If your face is: Square

Glasses with strong, angular lines are your enemy. Instead, try some oval or round frames to complement your features. A slight cat’s-eye frame will also complement a square face.

If your face is: Round

To make your face appear longer and thinner, look for frames with horizontal lines. The additional arm that connects at the top of an aviator frame is perfect for you, as are frames with an upswept angle. Way farers are also good for this face shape.

If your face is: Oval

Well, aren’t you lucky! Oval faces are naturally balanced, so just about any shape will look right on you. Have fun experimenting!
