The Komets have added CHL Most Valuable Player Brandon Marino and veteran defenseman Tyler Butler to their preseason roster, the team announced today.

Marino, 26, of Riverside, Calif., played for Quad City the last two years, the Komets said in a statement. He had 41 goals in 65 games for the Mallards, and led the club's special teams with 13 power-play goals and 22 power-play assists.

Butler, 32, of Kanata, Ontario, Canada, played for Arizona of the CHL the last two years, the statement said. He had 10 goals and 111 penalty minutes in 66 games for the Sundogs, and was captain last season.

The Komets said their preseason roster now totals eight -- five forwards and three defensemen.
