Shooting victim named

A man who was shot walking down the street in southeast Fort Wayne on Saturday night has been identified, police said.

Antonio L. Hamlet, 34, of Fort Wayne, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to serious condition. The most recent condition update available indicated he was improving, officer Raquel Foster said.

Police were dispatched to the corner of Standish Drive and East Fairfax Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Hamlet was walking on Standish just north of Paulding Road when a silver car, possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix, pulled up alongside him.

A man with a gun got out of the car, fired multiple shots and got back in the car, which then headed north on Standish, police previously said.
