July 18: Day 19

This morning I worked on the Cheviot for about 20 minutes. It's spinning pretty well. There are little bits of straw and things that I have to pick out sometimes, so that's slowing me down a little bit.

Since I want to try to make sock yarn with this, I might actually do a few sample plys when it's finished. I might start by making, washing, and swatching a small amount of 3-ply yarn. If it acts the way I want, I'll make the whole thing into a 3-ply so that I can take out weak spots and slubs as I'm knitting. If it doesn't, I'll try a 2-ply. If that won't work as a sock yarn, I guess I'll just have to think of something else to do with this yarn!
