Woman killed in head-on crash is ID'd

FORT WAYNE – The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified a Fort Wayne woman killed Wednesday morning in a head-on crash that also killed the other driver.

Marjorie S. Abramowski, 72, died at the scene, the coroner’s office said in a statement.

It said she was wearing a seat belt and that the other driver was not restrained. He has not been positively identified.

The crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. on Homestead Road in Allen County, near the southwest side of Fort Wayne.

A witness told police a man was driving a green Honda Accord north on Homestead when it crossed the center line just north of Ernst Road about 6:50 a.m., striking a silver Honda Accord that was going south, according to a statement issued by Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel, an Allen County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

Abramowski was driving the southbound car.

The other driver also died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
