Head-on crash kills 2

FORT WAYNE – Two people are dead after a head-on crash shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday on Homestead Road in Allen County, near the southwest side of Fort Wayne.

A witness told police a man was driving a green Honda Accord north on Homestead when it crossed the center line just north of Ernst Road about 6:50 a.m., striking a silver Honda Accord that was going south, according to a statement issued by Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel, an Allen County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

The driver of the southbound car was a 72-year-old woman from Fort Wayne, the statement said. The driver of the northbound vehicle has not been identified.

Both drivers died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. Update
