A Hicksville, Ohio, man was injured Thursday when his truck drove off Indiana 8 in DeKalb County, struck a tree and overturned, the county sheriff's department said.FORT WAYNE – A Fort Wayne man is charged with attempted murder in the Saturday shooting of another man on the city’s southeast side.
Allen County prosecutors Monday afternoon charged Quinn Dontrail James, 28, of the 1300 block of Ventura Lane, with attempted murder and aggravated battery in connection with the shooting of Antonio “Tattoo” Hamlet about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
James was not in custody Tuesday night.
Witnesses told police they saw a man they knew only as “Tattoo” walking through a yard near East Fairfax Avenue and Standish Drive.
As Hamlet got to the edge of a driveway, a silver Pontiac Grand Prix pulled up and they saw a man later identified as James get out and run at Hamlet, firing a gun.
One witness said he saw James grab Hamlet, 34, by the shirt, after he fell to the ground, yell at him and then back up and shoot him again, according to court documents.
Bullets struck Hamlet several times in the chest and stomach and Hamlet told police at the scene it was James who had shot him, according to court documents.
Taken to the hospital in critical condition, Hamlet has since been upgraded to serious condition, according to police Tuesday.
A silver Pontiac Grand Prix belongs to James’ mother.
According to court documents, Hamlet was visiting with James’ mother a few hours before the shooting and told police he knew the car belonged to her.
