FORT WAYNE – James A. Handschy ran past a security check at the Allen County Courthouse on Monday, up to the third floor and then back to the first floor before he was tackled by police.

All because he wanted to “get (Allen Superior Court) Judge Francis C. Gull,” according to a probable cause affidavit.

Handschy, 24, of the 800 block of Lavina Street, was preliminarily charged with disorderly conduct, intimidation and two counts of resisting law enforcement.

He entered through the main Courthouse doors, and after he failed to stop for security officers, Handschy was yelled at to stop.

“Not till I get her,” Handschy allegedly yelled, according to court papers.

After running to the third floor, an officer yelled at Handschy to stop, but he allegedly told the officer, “Not until I get ahold of her,” the affidavit said.

Handschy got to the door of Gull’s office and then ran back to the first floor of the Courthouse. He was tackled on the Main Street side of the Courthouse, court records said.

Handschy told police he was there to get Gull because she had previously sentenced him to 10 years in prison in a theft case, court papers said.

He was being held at the Allen County Jail without bail because of a probation violation.

Death at camp likely not foul play

A man was found dead Monday at a Boy Scout camp in Williams County, Ohio, but authorities say foul play is not suspected.

Dispatchers received a call at 3:14 p.m. that a man was not breathing at Camp Frontier Boy Scout Camp Reservation, at 07371 Williams County Road S in Pioneer, Ohio, the sheriff’s department said.

Williams County EMS found the man dead in a tent, police said.

The man was identified as Daniel L. Kretz, 56, of Toledo, and Williams County Coroner Dr. Kevin Park had the body transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Kretz was at the camp as an assistant Boy Scout leader with a troop from Toledo, police said.
