Indiana Republican Party State Chairman Eric Holcomb is leaving his post next month after more than two years in the job.Three groups are trying to put together a debate on education issues between Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd, and Democratic challenger Kevin Boyd.
Boyd announced this week that he has accepted an invitation to debate Stutzman on Oct. 17. He said the debate is being sponsored by The Educational Opportunity Center, the Fort Wayne League of Women Voters and the Northeast Indiana Friends of Public Education.
Kelley Renz of The Educational Opportunity Center confirmed Thursday that debate invitations have been sent out, but she said organizers have not heard back from Stutzman's campaign.
A Stutzman aide said he was unaware of the invitation.
"We've not heard anything about that debate," Tim Harris, Stutzman's chief of staff, said Thursday in an email.
