•CERT volunteer teams walked neighborhoods and helped neighbors ahead of the arrival of first responders.

•American Red Cross Shelter volunteers provided a safe haven, a cool location and food.

•Allen County Council on Aging offered transportation.

•Fort Wayne 311 and Allen County United Way 211 teams provided information and assistance.

•Local neighbors saw needs and stepped in to help when the storm hit.

•Neighbors with electricity stored food, welcomed families and provided support and nourishment.

Special thanks go to utility workers, police, fire, EMS and the Fort Wayne/Allen County Department of Health, who did an exceptional job of keeping us safe.

JAN CLYMER Fort Wayne

CHEERS to the St. Joe 1 Juniors division (and brother divisions) for a great season. Congratulations to St. Joe 2 for winning the District 10 trophy. To St. Joe 1 (Meijer), thanks for such a fun, great time. I have never been around young men who were as talented, yet fun, as Bryson Tretter, Rob Bakle, David Keating, Ben Keating, Jeff Mertes, Tommy Steele, Tebo Stauffer, Hunter Haney, Noah Kilby, Devin Byrd and Evan Lytle. JEERS to St. Joe District 10 leadership. No umpires for one game, and questionable playing conditions for another. I find it humorous when District 10 officials yell at fans and coaches.

DIRK STAUFFER Fort Wayne

CHEERS to the I&M volunteers who passed out ice on July 1 and to the police officers who directed traffic and got the lines moving faster when they got there.

BOB and ARLENE CURTS Fort Wayne
