Family Dollar robbed with knife

A man with a knife robbed a Family Dollar store Sunday afternoon in southeast Fort Wayne, according to city police.

The man entered the store, hopped over the counter and demanded money. He had his face covered, and he showed a knife, police said.

The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen behind the business running toward the Ashley Court apartment complex.

Police were sent to the store at 3312 E. Paulding Road, near Hessen Cassel Road, about 12:30 p.m. With help from a police dog, officers searched the area without success.

The robber was described as shorter than 5-foot-7, 130 pounds and black. He was wearing a white, long-sleeve shirt and black pants, police said.
