The Allen County prosecutor says a police-action shooting that killed a man to save the life of a 3-year-old boy held hostage was justified.FORT WAYNE – A 43-year-old Fort Wayne man has been identified as the victim of Tuesday morning's fatal shooting on Wayne Trace.
The Allen County Coroner's Office announced Tuesday afternoon that Robert Jackson Jr. died of a gunshot wound or wounds and ruled the death a homicide, the city and county's 21st of 2012.
According to a statement received Tuesday morning from the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers were called to the area of 3900 Wayne Trace at 4:12 a.m. Jackson died at the scene.
The slaying remains under investigation by the police department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and the coroner's office.
