TinCaps lead after 3

The TinCaps picked up two runs in the bottom of the third inning to grab a 2-0 lead over South Bend on Wednesday at Parkview Field.

Travis Whitmore coaxed a one-out single and and moved to second on Yeison Asencio's swinging bunt down the third base line. A double steal then put the runners on third and second.

Whitmore cruised in when South Bend pitcher R.J. Bradley unloaded a wild pitch, which also put Asencio on third.

With the South Bend infield drawn in, Duanel Jones nubbed a 3-2 pitch over the second baseman to give the TinCaps their second run of the inning.

Fort Wayne starting pitcher Frank Garces hasn't been exactly sharp, although the Silver Hawks have just one hit. Garces, through three innings, has walked two and hit a batter.
