A woman escaped serious injury Tuesday after she ran a red light and crashed her car into a pond at a downtown park.
Emergency responders were called to the intersection of East Creighton Avenue and South Clinton Street just before noon after it was reported that a vehicle was in the pond at Ivan Lebamoff Reservoir Park and the driver was possibly trapped, Fort Wayne police Spokeswoman Raquel Foster said.
Witnesses told police that a maroon Chevrolet was driving east on Creighton Avenue, ran a red light at South Clinton and was hit by a southbound vehicle.
Firefighters were able to pull the woman, the sole occupant of the Chevrolet, from the partly submerged vehicle.
She was in fair condition at the scene and was taken to a hospital, Foster said.
