TinCaps fall to Silver Hawks

Needing a victory to reach the .500 level for the first time since they were 1-1 on April 6, the TinCaps had a season-high five errors in a 10-6 loss to South Bend on Thursday before 7,880 fans at Parkview Field.

Fort Wayne (19-13, 50-52) entered the game having won eight of its last 10 games and was tied for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division with Bowling Green and Lansing.

Trailing 8-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, the TinCaps made a surge when they scored four runs, highlighted by a bases-loaded double from Tyler Stubblefield, who finished with two doubles.

Mike Gallic went 5 for 5 to lead the 11-hit Fort Wayne attack.

The TinCaps and Silver Hawks return to Parkview Field on at 7 p.m. Friday.
