Former Indiana basketball player Neil Reed died Thursday, according to multiple media reports.
The Santa Maria (Calif.) Times reported Reed, who was 36, went into cardiac arrest and could not be revived.
Reed averaged 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3 assists as a guard for the Hoosiers from 1995-97. He became part of a national story after alleging Bob Knight chocked him during a practice. The allegation – and later appearance of a video – were part of an investigation by the school.
According to the Santa Maria Times, Reed coached boys basketball and golf at Pioneer Valley High School in Santa Maria.
