Fort Wayne in Top 10 Safest Cities list

Parenting magazine’s website has listed Fort Wayne among the nation’s safest cities to raise a child.

The Summit City comes in sixth in the Top 10 ranking, which is based mainly on low violent crime and sex offenders per capita.

Burlington, Vt., came in first, followed in order by Virginia Beach, Va., Portland, Ore., Boulder, Colo., Seattle, Wash., Fort Wayne, Scottsdale, Ariz., Lexington, Ky., Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn., and Spokane, Wash.

The rankings were also based on the Institute for Economics & Peace index, which includes police officers per capita and information about access to small arms, the parenting ranking said.
