LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (AP) — A southeastern Indiana woman has been convicted of stealing more than $100,000 from an elderly relative.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Sheila Taylor was convicted Tuesday of theft and fraud on a financial institution by a Dearborn County jury. A judge has revoked Taylor's bail and ordered her held at the county jail pending her sentencing.
Dearborn County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard says in a news release that Taylor faces up to 16 years in prison. He says Greendale police and an Adult Protective Services investigator found that Taylor had stolen and defrauded a relative of more than $300,000.
Negangard says Taylor had "abused" her power of attorney to steal the funds in 2008, but his release does not disclose the details.
