Saturday, Sunday and Monday
It was strange watching the opening ceremony on tape-delay-delay (my partner and I opted for a movie instead on Friday night, so we didn't watch it until Sunday).
I had already heard all about it on Twitter, and seen the photos from the Associated Press, but I digress...
I've been practicing for 10 minutes per day. My speed hasn't increased by a single stitch, but I'm feeling more comfortable with it. I think my muscle memory should kick in soon.
My bundle of random needles from Ebay arrived this morning. I'm pretty excited. There are one set each of 7s, 8s and 9s in the group. One set of needles is marked 8, but they are way smaller than the 5 mm size I would expect. It's probably an old "U.K." size 8, which is 4 mm - or a modern American size 6. I'll check with my needle gauge tonight. They are a little bent and scratched up, but otherwise look great and have very, very blunt tips, which could be good for some applications.
Most of the needles are by Boye, which set the standard for American needle sizes. So, they should be fairly reliable.
Time trails tomorrow - will metal be faster? (Spoiler alert: probably.)
