Two men were arrested in Kosciusko County this week on drug-related charges.The first arrest was Monday when officers arrived at a home at 701 E. County Line Road 800 S.Investigators released the identity of the 4-year-old girl who died after a tractor-trailer rig slammed into four cars along a highway in northwest Fort Wayne last week.
Abigail Marie Little, of Albion, succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at a hospital Friday afternoon.
Called by her family “Our Little Sunshine” and “Princess ‘P’ ” in her obituary, she was one day shy of her fifth birthday.
The crash occurred about 3:20 p.m. Friday at U.S. 30 and Kroemer Road, according to police.
Little was inside a Pontiac minivan at the end of a line of cars waiting at a red light on U.S. 30. The rig, going west on U.S. 30, slammed into the back of the minivan without slowing down, witnesses told police.
The impact crumpled the van’s back half.
It also sent the minivan and a sport utility vehicle into the intersection.
Two pickup trucks also struck in the crash ended up in a grassy median along with the rig. One of the trucks was flipped on its roof.
While five others were also taken to hospitals, Little was the only one in critical condition, according to police.
The driver of the rig was taken to a hospital for drug and alcohol testing – a standard procedure in fatal crashes.
Results of those tests and the driver’s identity have not been released.
Little is survived by parents, a younger brother and grandparents as well as cousins, aunts and uncles, according to her obituary.
“The light of our life, she brought joy to all around her,” the family wrote in the obituary.
Her funeral is Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Columbia City, and preferred memorials are to go to the Abigail Marie Little Scholarship fund, according to the obituary.
