Ind. man, 19, arrested in beating of 95-year-old

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A 19-year-old central Indiana man faces preliminary charges alleging that he beat and robbed a 95-year-old Indianapolis man after forcing his way into the victim's home.

Jacob Caudill of Fairland was arrested on preliminary felony charges of robbery and criminal confinement and a misdemeanor battery count in last week's attack on Indianapolis' southeast side. He was being held on $20,000 bond pending a court appearance.

Prosecutors will decide whether to formally charge Caudill in last Friday's attack.

Indianapolis police say the elderly victim answered a knock at his door when he was attacked by a young man who demanded money, hit him, ransacked his home and tried to steal his car.

A police report says the victim suffered a split lip and was robbed of up to $200 in cash.
