The TinCaps' five-game winning streak came to a screeching halt with a 16-0 loss to South Bend at Coveleski Stadium on Thursday.
Fort Wayne (24-15, 55-54 overall) had won the first two games of the series against the Silver Hawks (19-20, 54-55) to increase the winning streak, but the TinCaps were outhit 22-6 and committed two errors.
The loss ties the Fort Wayne franchise high for margin of defeat, which had not been matched in 15 years.
South Bend scored five times in the second inning and four each in the fourth and eighth innings.
It wasn't pretty for the TinCaps as their second pitcher, Daniel Sarria, was ejected in the fourth inning after hitting a batter after giving up a home run.
Two infielders, Tyler Stubblefield and Travis Whitmore, combined to pitch the final four innings and gave up six runs.
Leadoff hitter Chris Ellison had four hits and three RBI for South Bend, while Roidany Aguila added three hits and three RBI.
Colin Rea (3-7) took the loss for Fort Wayne after giving up six hits and six runs (two earned) in 2 1/3 innings. Yeison Asencio had two hits for the TinCaps.
