Bishop Dwenger QB hurts knee

Bishop Dwenger junior quarterback Mike Fiacable tore the ACL on his left knee in practice Friday and will miss significant time.

“I was running, then got hit and fell forward and then I tried getting up and when I got up, it cracked twice,” he said via text message. “I just fell back down. I was taken too for an MRI.”

Last season, Fiacable threw for 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Saints. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Fiacable was also part of AWP’s national qualifying 7-on-7 team last summer.

“I’m done for awhile, and I have to get surgery sometime soon,” he said. “I’m not sure when (I am coming back), but I’m pretty sure I’m out for basketball season too.”

After winning five straight SAC championships, the Saints finished 7-5 last and were fourth in the conference with a 4-3 league mark. Dwenger’s 38-game winning streak in the SAC was snapped by North Side. And after reaching at least the semistate for five seasons, the Saints lost to Leo 35-14 in the sectional semifinals.
